よくあるHDDメディアプレーヤー機器が持つほとんどの機能を備えつつ、いろいろと興味深い独自の機能も搭載する。LANとUSBポート、HDMI出力、各種AV出力を備え、MPEG-4 AVC／H.264などのフルHD解像度クラスの動画データを単体で再生する機能、DVD-Video形式のISOファイル再生、HDDに保存したBD-Video「BDMV」フォルダ再生のサポートなど、その機能はかなり多彩だ。さらにDVDドライブを内蔵するDA-MP101は、DVD-Videoを“単体”でリッピング可能だという。こちらも国内ではおそらく今までにない機能だろう。

　HDDは別売りで、本体にSerial ATAの3.5インチドライブを1台内蔵できる。本体に備える100BASE-TX対応の有線LANやUSB 2.0を用い、LAN内のPCやUSB接続したストレージ機器からも保存したコンテンツを共有再生できるほか、PCから本体に内蔵（ないし、接続）したHDDにアクセス──つまりNASないし外付けHDD代わりとしても活用できる。DVDプレーヤーとネットワークメディアプレーヤー、HDD拡張が可能なNAS／ファイルサーバ、外付けHDDなどの機能がひとまとめになっている機器というわけだ。
